Z-Net v1.0

posted in Utility Release by narvick on Mar 2nd, 2004

Something rather interesting has been released. DarkAkuma has created an mIRC script that allows users to find other users for netplay in ZSNES, much like zbattle.net. The official IRC channel is #Z-Net on both NewNet and EsperNet. Here are some features:
  • Add script. When set up, this will let people know you want to play a netplay game, and what game(s). Currently this will list up to 5 games. To see what games people have set as wanting to play, type !games in the official Z-Net channel, and you will see a list of player and what games they want to play.
  • Request and Send selected file options. Can also be set to automatically send the selected file when requested, or request the file server has selected
  • Voice chat. I was hoping for more from this option. But as far as I can tell (currently limited in how I test this script. My router is the suck), it works. Though staticy from what I could tell. And I think it doesn't work when sound is enabled in ZSNES. Which is why Z-Net is currently set to disable ZSNES sound when you try to use voice chat.
DarkAkuma also has this to say for feedback:
If you like/dislike this script and want to voice your opinions, have bugs to report, features to request/discuss, or just have any BS you want to talk about. Check out the forums. They're beyond dead as of writing this, but should hopefully have some life breathed into them soon.
Everyone should check this out and I hope it becomes popular. Visit the Official Z-Net Homepage for more details.
