The Happenings

posted in Misc. News by swampgas on Jan 2nd, 2003

Well, 2002 certainly was a bad year for me...and a lot of the nonsense filtered over on to the site. Now that the personal stuff is out of the way and a new year has begun, it's time to deal with Zophar's Domain. What is happening with the site?
I've appointed Elazul and WhoaMan as managers...they're taking over the site for me.
Will you continue to stay with the site?
I'll be around...doing primarily programming. The system I wrote for the site back in 99/00 is in desperate need of an overhaul, not to mention I wanted to finish the coding of ZMD v2.0 which includes secure private messages.
The news queue is HUGE...what is going to happen?
Ask Elazul or WhoaMan...they're in charge.
Why don't you have time for this anymore?
Had some personal things develop in January of last year which continued to late spring/early summer....it was very time consuming the entire year. More recently, I've decided to undergo firearms training at Lethal Weapons Training, Lethal Force Institute, and some local stuff in the Harrisburg, PA area. It's VERY time consuming and some of it requires travel. I've explored the possibility of becoming a Glock Armoror as well, which takes up quite a bit of time. Perhaps I'll look into law enforcement by the end of 2003.
I want to help out. I want to be on staff.
You'll have to take that up with Elazul or WhoaMan. They hire/fire now.
I saw ZMD is back up. Why is it broken?
We're working on restoring functionality. Our host made some changes during its downtime which affected some coding (it's outdated).
Will the News Roundup be back?
I'm sure they'll ask me to revamp the News Roundup code so you can receive the day's news items via email.
The design is horrid and SO 1997. It's SO last millennium.
I've heard rumors of a site redesign. Perhaps there will be an official announcement when the time comes.
I'm confident Elazul and WhoaMan will take ZD back to its former glory and beyond in a matter of weeks. We all here at ZD thank you for your support and continued patronage.
