A bugfix version was released of SNESAmp, a popular SPC plugin for Winamp. The fix?:

Fix: In v3.03, if you were using the waveOut plugin distributed with Winamp v2.91 and you had the volume control enabled, changing the balance while playing an SPC resulted in your sound card's volume jumping to 100 percent. SNESAmp 3.03a eliminates this adverse behavior.
