RuMSX v2.7

posted in Emulator Release by narvick on Jun 28th, 2003

It's been almost a year since we've seen an update of RuMSX, an excellent MSX emulator by Lex Lechz. There's quite a few changes in this version. A partial source code was also released, as well. Here's what's new in the emulator, as well as some support and additional files you may download from the homepage:
  • RUMSXEMU.ZIP (Updated) has been changed and must be downloaded
  • RUMSXLNG.ZIP (Updated) has been repackaged to incorporate fixes for v0.25 (binaries were compatible with prior version). Full Arabic language support has been added
  • RUMSXLNX.ZIP (Updated) contains partially localized versions of RuMSX (French only). In contrast to RUMSXLNG.ZIP the translation is not completed. So these resources are partially English. This is NOT part of the InstallShield version
  • RUMSXUNI.ZIP (Updated) contains a trial version of the RuMSX v0.27 unicode build (MSXW.EXE), which support worldwide character sets in the single file. A manifest-file to support WinXP styles is included. The unicode version requires Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or Windows XP for execution. These files are NOT part of the InstallShield version
  • MSX-Printer emulation did not print special characters (preceded by CHR(1)) properly
  • Some Konami ROMs were not properly mapped, so e.g. the translated "Parodius" was garbled
  • Highest sprite number was improperly calculated in some cases. "Andorogynus" uses proper sprites now
  • Location and size of ROMs - started by double-clicking the file - were not always recognized properly. RuMSX can now run much more games by double-clicking the the ROM within the Windows Explorer
  • RuMSX saved states might have failed to load because the sream "CONFIG(0)" was complained
  • DiskROM call PHYDIO (4010h) returned the number of read/written sectors instead of the number of remaining sectors
  • Fixed memory leak while RuMSX was running in FullScreen mode (HDC's have been exhausted since v0.26)
The additional files RUMSXHLP, RUMSX_XP and RUMSXTST (.ZIP files), were unchanged for this version. The homepage has much more information about this wonderful emulator
