Nestopia v 1.0

posted in Emulator Release by spacetiger on Jun 16th, 2003

Martin Freij has released version 1.0 of his breathtaking new emulator, Nestopia. Even on the first release, this NES emulator is competitive with the best. Written in C++ and using innovative timing techniques, it is perfect for games like Marble Madness, which relies on precision timing. Unfortunately, it is not the fastest NES emulator around, but if you have a Pentium 4 (or a fast P3), you should be fine. The following is an incomplete list of what is supported:
  • 132 mappers
  • NES sound files
  • Famicom disk system
  • Battery-ram data (in-game saving)
  • Save states
  • NES movie files
  • IPS patching
  • ZIP files
  • Alternate controller emulation, including the Zapper, the Power Pad, the Arkanoid Paddle, and the Family Basic Keyboard
  • 26 exclusive VS-Unisystem games
You can pick up this emulator at the NES Emulators section, as always.

Thanks to the creator, Marty, for the news.
