MagicEngine 0.9.9 beta 3 (Demo)

posted in Emulator Release by bdlou on Apr 20th, 2002

MagicEngine, an outstanding Turbo Grafx-16/PC Engine emulator for Windows, has been updated. Yesterday marks the emulator's fifth birthday! Here's what's new:
  • new CD-ROM support for Windows 2000/XP, the wnaspi32.dll is not required anymore.
  • implemented a windowed mode (16-bit only).
  • fixed a little bug in the save state code.
  • fixed a bug in the Arcade Card emulation, now 'Fatal Fury 2', 'Fatal Fury Special', 'World Heroes 2' and 'Madou Monogatari I' are fully playable.
  • added new options in the PCE.INI file : 'windowed' to select windowed mode at startup, 'drive_letter' to select the CD-ROM drive by its letter instead of its number (Windows 2000/XP only).
Keep in mind, as this is a demo version, it is limited to 5 minutes of play time per session. Also note that the author has discovered a bug where some CD games can freeze when you press the RUN button, but this happens only when using the System Card ROM. It can be downloaded from the Turbo Grafx-16 Emulators area.
