gnuboy v0.9.1

posted in Emulator Release by swampgas on Feb 12th, 2001

BIG news for the open source Gameboy emulator gnuboy! It now has experimental sound support (but only for OSS...nothing in DOS yet, and only 3 of the 4 channels are emulated). The author had to say the following:
[T]he output quality is already fairly good. Most games and demos tested, including several that use digital voice tricks, sound great. Users should be aware that until sound support is perfected, ROM compatibility may be reduced slightly. Also, use of savestates may result in (usually brief) bogus sound output due to sound state not being saved.
There's no DOS binary included in this release because of the lack of sound in DOS. Grab it from the Gameboy emulators. Thanks to Gilgamesh for the news.
