Final Burn v0.069

I've been waiting for this one. Final Burn v0.069 has finally been released. Here's what's new, with a bit of an explanation:

  • Added a SFZ Region switch to the .ini file: There are six regions: 0x00=Japan ("Street Fighter Zero") 0x01=USA ("Street Fighter Alpha") 0x02=Hispanic ("Street Fighter Zero") 0x03=Asia ("Street Fighter Zero") 0x04=Europe ("Street Fighter Alpha") 0x05=Brazil ("Street Fighter Zero")
  • This may cause a bit of confusion: How come a Street Fighter Zero romset can be played as Alpha? Well from what I know, it looks like actually any version of the game can be played in Japan mode or US mode by changing a flag in the code. This changes the language and also changes a few game options too. Of course, the switch hasn't been seen before because it has never been emulated - the Rom has always been read-only till now. The Japan romset is hardcoded to region 0x00. The US romset is hardcoded to region 0x01. When a version is played in Japan mode, the display shows 'Zero'. When a version is played in US mode, the display shows 'Alpha'. Apparently there is other data which is different in a 'real' Street Fighter Alpha set, but it hasn't been decrypted yet, so we don't know.
  • The new SFZ decode files are now used. These are more accurate since they decrypt the whole rom area - emulation is now more accurate (fetches are decrypted, reads are not). With these new tables, the memory check also passes. (No hacks I promise you!)
  • No row scroll yet.

So head on over to the Multiple Arcade Emulators section to grab it.
