Chip 8 Emulator for Gamecube v1.0a

posted in Emulator Release by narvick on Jul 31st, 2003

That's right. A few days ago, a coder by the name of DesktopMan released the first ever emulator for Gamecube. There is no special name for it, just simply Chip 8 Emulator. There have been two versions. The initial release was on July 24. v1.0a was released the 25th. Here's what's new in the latest version:
  • Wait-for-key opcode doesn't hinder restart or game switch
  • You can now restart from the menu as well
  • Speed adjustment during play: Digital up: faster Digital down: slower (CPU cycles per Vblank)
  • Fixed some bugs in the cpu-core. "Hidden" and others now work as they should
  • Added a few opcodes
  • Added some more info to the readme, fixed some spelling errors :)
  • New menu system with all games
  • Revised the control setup. Now is more similar to the original pad. Note: Since the pad was in two verions, 8 and 2 (up and down in most games) are sometimes switched
  • Added the game-info txt to the zip. (Written by David Winter, author of Chip8 emu for PC)
