Cassini v1.0

posted in Emulator Release by narvick on Jul 12th, 2004

Cassini is a brand new open source Saturn emulator for Windows! Compatibility seems decent, with many games working and some that are playable, but have errors. Every Saturn fan should try this out. Here's what's new though since the private beta releases:
  • This project is now called "Cassini" (It was originally called Snail's Sega Saturn Emulator)
  • Decrypted ALL of the coding
  • Decompiled and added the source codes to the package
  • More translation
  • Replaced Jap BIOS with Euro BIOS
  • Thanks to work by MiC, updated the FrontEnd
  • More performance enhancements
  • Updated the games.dat compatibility
  • Updated the "Complete" games list
  • Added HELP support
  • Set up download sites
The Cassini Team as of now consists of Barnito, Lockshaw13, Slacker, Iceman50, SigmaX6, DWBrett, and the head coder is Snail. It appears to be ultimately derived from GiriGiri, but if you want to read more about this history of the emulator, check out the homepage's history of Cassini page
