Bliss 1.53 and Xanadu 0.62

posted in Emulator Release by xip on Apr 19th, 2001

Bliss is a Intellivision emulator written in Java, and Xanadu is a C++ port. Here's what's new: Bliss
  • FINALLY found and fixed the bug which was causing the “Unable to set requested video mode” errors. However, the users who were experiencing the video bug are now having problems with DirectInput initialization. I added code to this release to display a very specific DirectInput error, so if you receive a DirectInput initialization error, please let me know exactly which message you receive.
  • Fixed a bug which caused some games to “blink” erratically. The blinking was caused by the change that made Dreadnaught Factor work correctly. Now Dreadnaught Factor still works, but the blinking in other games is gone.
  • Fixed saving and loading, which was accidentally broken in the previous release.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the mouse cursor to do some weird things when it passed over the window.
  • Fixed the problem with several video cards where you would only see a black screen, although the game sounds could be heard playing in the background. If you had this problem, the video should now work correctly for you in this release.
  • Fixed the problem with switching to another app in full-screen mode where the screen would never restore after switching back to the game. Xanadu

  • Fixed another problem which was causing more “File ‘exec.bin’ does not contain the correct Executive ROM” messages for some users. This problem should now be eliminated once and for all. Get them both at the Intellivision page. Thanks to ZeroX for the news.
