Thank you for downloading this small Super Fighter 'demo' created with
the Mario Paint program for the Super Nintendo. I created the backdrop
and animation sequence using modified versions of existing graphics:
Each part of the design was split up into seperate, 16x16 tiles then
fitted with Mario Paint's 16-color palette. The backdrop consisted of
about 176 tiles whereas the animation frames took only 12. Each tile
was -drawn- (yes, DRAWN) by hand directly into the 'special stamp'
option. When 15 tiles (the maximum number that the program allows
memory for) were finished, they were layed out on the screen as
desired. Then, the next 15 were drawn and so on so forth until all
   of them were finished.

Some people may wonder why I drew each and every tile in by hand,
rather than simply use a tile editing program to do the job. My
answer is simple : there's no skill in using a tile editing program
to do the job for you, especially with Mario Paint's handy 'special
stamp' option. I was already using an emulator - that took enough
away from the experience to begin with. Using a tile editing program
would only take more away from it. I wanted this project to be done
in a careful, personalized manner. While it may not be the best work
ever created in Mario Paint, I am proud of it nonetheless.

The music (Super Fighter title theme) was remixed by a talented fellow
by the name of Matthew W. Jackson.

    VIEWING INSTRUCTIONS :

1). If you have not done so already, download and setup a copy of
the Super Nintendo emulator, ZSNES [ http://www.zsnes.com/ ].

2). You will also need a copy of the Mario Paint ROM image. Keep
in mind I can NOT and will NOT provide this for you, so please
do not ask me for it. To create this production I used the
standard European release of Mario Paint - not the Joystick
hacked USA release. Keep that in mind when looking for the
         ROM image.

3). After setting up ZSNES and copying the Mario Paint ROM image
to the same directory (folder), you will need to copy the
following files (which came from this ZIP file; SFDMARPT.ZIP)
into that same folder : MARPAINT.ZST, MARPAINT.SRM, and
         MARPAINT.ZMV.

4). Make sure your Mario Paint ROM image has a matching filename
to the data files - in other words, the ROM image should be
renamed to "MARPAINT.SMC" from its original filename.

5). After carefully following steps 1-4, execute (start) the ZSNES
emulator and load the Mario Paint ROM image. The save state of
the demo can automatically be loaded and played by pressing the
'F4' key once the ROM has finished loading. The SRAM data can be
accessed and loaded from Mario Paint's built-in LOAD command
(under the Robot icon). Finally, the movie file can be viewed by
accessing the ZSNES menu bar - MISC: Movie Opn.

6). If you have any questions or comments about this production,
please feel free to e-mail them to me and I will get back to
you as soon as I can. Thanks!
