 ------------------------------------------------------------

This is a preview of my Linux port of FinalBurn. It's not officially
supported. I provide it just for those who want to see something. The
emulator is usable now and you may perfectly play some games. But it's
far from being finished. So... if it doesn't work for you... DON'T mail
me unless I tell you to. I'll just send the mail to /dev/null.

  WARNINGS:
  ---------

     * This preview release is compiled for pentiumpro and uses MMX
       instructions.
     * This version is 100% UNsupported. If you have problems with it...
bad luck! Wait for the official release. DON'T MAIL ME.

  NEW IN THIS VERSION:
  --------------------

     * No-sound is supported. O:))
     * Config files implemented
     * Commandline options implemented
     * Now you can select a game by number or by name. (eg: sf2 instead of 20)
     * 8-bit color supported. Colors are pretty bad, but at lest they're not
       abstract art. ;)
     * Source code available
     * Enhanced keyboard response. CPS games don't seem to like the joystick
beeing pointing in oposite directions at the same time. O:)
     * FinalBurn Alpha code incorporated into the Linux port. For me, this
means quite a nightmare, since the FB Alpha guys have ruined one of
the best things of FB: the very good code structure Dave did. For
you, this means you can play 166 games instead of 38. No netplay,
cheats nor the obscure dip-switches thing present in FB Alpha for Win.

     Ver 2001-09-15:
     ---------------
     * Solved some theorical compatibility problems with colors & SDL.
(8 bit color is not supported yet. If you need it, contact me)
     * Controls should now be complete. You can play Sega games now.
       (FinalBurn, OutRun, etc...)
     * Finished the interpolation enhancements. Now QSound and Sega's PCM
use it to produce better sound with less CPU.
     * Code beautification is progressing quickly. I'll soon be able to
release code capable of compiling on computers other than mine. O;)

  CONFIG FILE:
  ------------

Together with this text file, you should have a fblinux.conf file.
This is a sample configuration file with all options comented out.
Read the comments and uncomment/adjust the options you need. Make sure
you setup properly the "RomsPath" option. Also, if you don't have a
soundcard working under Linux, it'd be a good idea to set the "Sound"
     option to "no".

Once you have it done, copy the file to /etc/fblinux.conf (in case
you have root acces and want a global config file) or to ~/.fblinux.conf
(NOTE the leading dot!!!) for a per-user config.

  COMMANDLINE:
  ------------

To know what games are supported and which files you need, type:

       ./finalburn -rominfo

It will show you a list. Every game in this list has an asotiated
number. To play the game, use this number as a parameter. For example:

       ./finalburn 20

would start Street Fighther II. (assuming you have sf2.zip in the
     RomsPath directory)

From version 20011005, you can specify the games by name, too. So,

       ./finalburn sf2

would start Street Fighter II. Probably this second method is
preferable, since rom numbers will vary depending if FinalBurn code or
     FinalBurn Alpha code was used.

There are some options you can use from the comandline:

-fullscreen run fullscreen. Use "-fullscreen=off" to disable.
-sound run with sound. Use "-sound=off" to disable.
-sfilter select which sound filter to use. (numeric)
       -srate set samplerate.
-rominfo print roms info with specified level of detail.
       -verbose set emulator verbosenes level.
       -romspath set zipped roms location.
-abuffers set nomber of audio buffers.
       -help print help.

  KEYS:
  -----

Keys cannot be changed at this point. They are the same as in Win32:

     cursors - movement
A,S,D - punchs (low, mid, high)
Z,X,C - kicks (low, mid, high)
     5, 6 - insert coins
     1, 2 - start (player 1, player 2)
     F2 - diagnostic
     F3 - reset
     ESC, Q - quit

For non-SF2 games, these keys may have different actions. For instance,
in OutRun Z accelerates, X changes gear and C brakes. Experiment a
     little by yourself. O:)
