				SNES Emu Launch v3.2
18/7/98

Introduction

Snes Emu Launch is a Windows 95/NT front end for the leading SNES Emulators, NLKE, Snes9X
and ZSNES.
It replaces the unintuitive command line interface of these programs with an easy to use
and configure GUI Interface.

Features

-Can be set up to work with all supported emulators in under a minute
-Add New Rom Wizard - makes adding ROMs and setting there options a quick and painless task.
-Download .scc cheat files for a game, and have cheats just a double click away with each
instantly recognizable by a plain English description.
-Each ROM can be recognised by it's true title and not a cryptic 8 character filename.
-Set different settings for each ROM, even use different emulators for different ROMs
-Supports on the fly unzipping of ROMs (requires Pkunzip)

What's missing

-No facility to redefine the keys used to emulate the joypads when using keyboard.
This will be added soon for ZSNES.
-Online help and maybe a user manual.

The .scc file format

The .scc file format for cheats has been introduced.
When a cheat is added for a rom, you are asked to input a brief text description of
the cheat as well as it's code and type. This description is then used to identify the
cheat. Snes Emu Launch creates a file for that rom in the cheats directory, containing
this information. Already made files can be downloaded from the SNES Emu Launch website,
allowing you to use cheats without the hassle of having to type them in.

Zip support

If you want to run a rom which is in compressed zip format, you first need a copy of the
PKUNZIP, and this is installed like the emulators via Emu Launch Setup. When a ROM is
selected, PKUNZIP will automatically be launched.

To stop copies of PKUNZIP being left behind after you have run a ROM, right click on one
of the PKUNZIPs which are in the task bar after a compressed rom has been run, click on
properties and select 'close on exit'.

Each ROM should have it's own ZIP file, and only the ROM file should be present in a
zip file, if a readme file or other is present then SNES Emu Launch may try to load this
into the emulator instead of the ROM.

Troubleshooting

SNES Emu Launch is designed to work with the following emulators:

-NLKE 0.02a
-Snes9x 1.05
-ZSNES 0.400

It will probably work some earlier versions of these emulators, but if you are having
troubles, you can download these from the SNES Emu Launch site or any other good emulation
site.

If SNES Emu Launch is being run from a shortcut, make sure that the Start in section under
the shortcuts properties points Snes Emu Launch is located. If it doesn't, then neither the
ini file or cheats will be saved in the correct places.

If you are having any other problems please don't hesitate to e-mail me at
c.r.kay@herts.ac.uk

I can't guarantee to reply immediately but I will try my best.

Registration

Not really registration I suppose, as this program is not shareware and whether or not
you decide to register is up to you. I don't not believe in crippled nagwhere and so
SNES Emu Launch is, and will always be, a fully functional program whether you decide
to pay for it or not.

If you do want to pay me the small sum of 5 however, it will enable me to offer
you the following:

-All updates automatically sent to you via e-mail as soon as they are released.
-Or if you prefer not to have your mail box clogged up, I can send you notification
of new releases instead.
-SNES Emu Launch is the product of many hours work, so registering will also make you
and you conscience feel better (honestly!!)

Anyhow, if you do want to register

Please send 5 - cash only please as my bank is insisting on charging me 63p for every
check I cash - to:

Mr Chris Kay

Please don't forget to include your e-mail address and also whether you would like the
program e-mailed to you or for you just to be notified.

If you live abroad, (which you probably do), I'm sorry, but at this time I can't offer
you any means of registration. If you do however want to send me something, then it will
be greatly received.
