GuiMame - A Simple M.A.M.E. Front-End

General Information

GuiMame is a simple, yet effective M.A.M.E. Front-End. It's aim is very simple
  -- no more command line B.S. I know there are 100's of M.A.M.E. Front-ends,
but when I went looking for one, they all promise all kinds of things, and
none of them ever worked. I don't know if it's because I used Windows XP, or
the Pentium optimized version of M.A.M.E., or if it's because I used the Win32
version instead of the DOS version, but who isn't using that if you're using a
GUI? But I tried Arcade.exe, Emu Loader, MAME Classic, Mamemix, MyMame, and
S.M.F.E. before finally deciding to make my own Front-end. Maybe I'm just a
major league idiot for being unable to setup any of those Front-ends, but I
contend that they all suck and don't work.

My version does not have pretty screenshots, names of ROMS, the ability to
configure M.A.M.E. to the utmost extreme, or any other 'cool' features. It
just saves you from having to use the command line. For now, that' enough. I
plan to add more stuff, but that'll all be optional add-ons. The basic stuff
is already done. If all you want it to leave the command line behind, and save
your M.A.M.E. options and paths behind, then this is the Front-end for you.

Finally, I believe in free software. Free not meaning in price (though I do
not charge for my software), but in freedom. All my programs are under the GNU
General Public License. Check out http://www.gnu.org for more information.

GuiMame Features

Support for the Win32 Version of M.A.M.E. Possibly others too, but I haven't
    tested them.

Support for Windows XP (that's the OS I use) -- It should work for any Win32
    OS (Win95-WinXP)

Path Saving and M.A.M.E. option saving (uses the registry to save your
    preferences)

    Source Code Freely Available

Usage Information

Simply unzip guimame to the directory of your choice (it can be run from
anywhere). Then run the GuiMame.exe program. When you first run it, it
will ask you to setup your paths, then it will load the ROM list. M.A.M.E.
can run programs in ZIP format, so it searches for ZIP files, though you
can change the filter to look for all files, if you prefer.

When the RomList is populated, simply double-click on the ROM of your
choice. So long as M.A.M.E. is installed where you said it was, the
program should launch M.A.M.E. with the ROM.

Known Bugs (or Problems I'm working on)

When you presss ENTER instead of double-clicking, it closes the program.
This must be some built in part of MFC that I need to correct. I'll look
for it in release candidate 2. Until then, just don't forget to double
    click.
