Importent! This is the older parser. Use it only when the one in the internal cfg utility does not work!

Feparser.exe

Feparser.exe is used to create the default gamelists for mame automatically.
You also need feparserfav.txt. This contains a list of games that the parser uses to create a custom favorites gamelist. Open this file and add and or remove games to create your own favorites gamelist.

How to use it?
-be sure that you got a cfg file made for your mame. For the normal win 32 build, for example "mamename.exe" there should be a "mamename.ini" in the same folder and for a dosbuild there should be a mame.cfg in the same folder.
-be sure to add a ";" before the first rom pathname in the mame configuration file. ie ;rom;d:\neogeo roms\;d:\roms
-you also need a copy of catver.ini that contains category information for mame games. get it at http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/ ...get the detailed standard file

-Run Feparser.exe
-Check Filter available games if you want that the parser will only add games to the gamelists that you have the roms for. The parser finds the roms by using the pathnames in mame's configuration file. This will only work when using split or split merged rom sets. Or with other words each game has to have its own zipfile.
-Click start...
-the parser will popup a dialog were you have to select your mame executable...browse to it...select it and then click ok
-then the parser will popup a dialog were you have to select your catver.ini...browse to it...select it and then click ok
-notice in the green fields the choices you made are displayed. the parser will now create a listinfo and listdetails file...and then it will start parsing...when the parsing is finished "done!" is displayed in the red field above the green fields...all the new gamelists are now in the folder the parser is in...make a backup off your old lists in cfg/lists and then copy the new ones in there...done! :-)

issues: the progressbar does not get updated after a few seconds under windows xp...no problem..just wait for done!
