PK HACK 0.2

Welcome to the PK Hack FAQ! This was originally going to be in a Windows help file,
but due to various reasons (see: FF9), I've decided to write up a REAL brief text file
instead. I'll try to get the nice and very extensive Windows help file in the next
version.

This is PK Hack 0.2. It's a lot better than 0.1. Which makes sense of course.

Just, uh, click stuff here and there and you can change stuff in your EarthBound ROM.
You can't change stuff in Mother 2 ROMs though. But you can see the sprites it uses.

There are a lot of new fields to edit, but most of them should make perfectly good sense.
Here are the ones that might not make so much sense:

- Enemy Status: The status the enemy is in at the start of the battle.
                I had a small list thanks to various PK Hack users, but I lost it.
                Please, send me a copy!

- Enemy Miss Rate: The rate that the enemy will miss you. Higher numbers mean they'll
                   hit you less.

- Enemy start text: The text displayed at the start of the battle. This is a pointer.
                    Unless you know what you're doing, don't change this. You can
                    essentially use any text from the game, though.

- Enemy death text: The text displayed when the enemy dies/disappears. This is also
                    a pointer and only for the advanced users.

- Max call: The maximum number of called enemies an enemy can have in a battle at once.
            The largest # allowed is 8, but for enemies with large enemy sprites, you
            might not be able to get up to 8.

- Actions and Arguments: Actions can have arguments. An argument is data that you pass.
                         If the action is one where PSI is used, the argument is the
                         name of the spell. You can have PSI Lifeup be cast, but have
                         it say PSI Starstorm is being used. Items' arguments are names,
                         and actions that call enemies have enemies as arguments.

                         The Enemy Extender action lets the enemy turn into another enemy
                         during battle.

- Enemy movement: Known values are:
   Red Antoid 20 Follow when you move
   New Age Retro Hippie 21 Gets excited when you approach
   Zombie Dog               22
   Whirling Robo            23
   Ramblin' Evil Mushroom 24 Sits down when not nearby (requires an extra frame of
                                 animation, so some enemies might goof up if you give
                                 them this...)
   Mr. Batty 25 Moves as soon as you see it, otherwise still
                                 (also requires an extra frame)
   Starman                  26   Warps around
   Enraged Fire Plug 27 Circles around, follows when it sees you
   Crazed Sign 28 Jerks around, then moves quickly
   Bad Buffalo 29 Moves slowly, then speeds up, straight line
   Ego Orb                  30
   Mystical Record 31 Moves quickly, straight line when you move
   Magic Butterfly 32 Always runs, slowly, gain PP at the end

   NOTE: ANY OTHER VALUES MAY SCREW UP YOUR GAME BAD!!! BE CAREFUL!

               Not the You Win! sound.

Item Spec. Props: This is a small, unconfirmed list:
  2 = 50% Fire Protection
  3 = Full Fire Protection
  8 = 50% Ice Protection
  12 = Full Ice Protection
  32 = 50% Flash Protection
  48 = Full Flash Protection
  128 = 50% Paralysis Protection
  192 = Full Paralysis Protection

  Add the numbers together if you want to have combined effects, like Fire and Ice
  protection.

Item Description: This is a pointer, use this at your own risk. Only advanced users
                  should mess with this.

PSI Names: Make sure to put a space after each name or the greek symbol will be attached
           to the very end of the name in the game, which looks weird.

Teleport: All maps in EB are really on one BIG map. Change the coordinates to change
           where you'll get teleported. Unfortunately I don't have a list of places
           and coordinates, nor a map of all the maps. I wish somebody could make one,
           it could easily be done with the Walk-thru-walls code.

Phone list pointer: This changes what text is used when you call that person on the
                    phone. Be careful, pointers are only for advanced users. But, if
                    you're really interested, $c58000 is a nice pointer to use ;)

IPS Making: The IPS files this program makes aren't the most efficient in terms of
            file size. Later versions will create smaller IPS files, if I get around to
            it.

Well, that's the end of this version. Sorry this help file sucks so bad, I'm just so
tired and busy and sick of people begging and insulting me for this version.

THE END?
