1. What is Clock Tower and CTTE?
--------------------------------------------------
Clock Tower is a survival horror game that
has recently been released to american
audiences thanks to emulation and ROMs.
CTTE (Clock Tower Text Edit) is a program
that I made to allow easy editing of the
English-Patched version of the game.
CTTE does not work with the original Japanese
ROM. It only works with the v1.01 patch
released by Aeon Genesis in 2001.

The webpage for Aeon Genesis is:

\3.1 Known Bugs/

This section includes all known bugs to date
with the program, and a solution to that problem.

-------
Bug 1:|
-------

Description:
After using CTTE, Jennifer's face goes messed up
at the point when she says: '!? The main hall..!?'

Solution:
1. Go into CTTE, and find and select the string
where Jennifer says '!? The main hall...!?'
2. Apply Jennifer's portrait to the selection.

\3.2 Bug Reporting/
 -----------------
To report a bug, verify that it isn't in the
'Known Bugs' section. If it isn't,send an e-mail
to: something_mann@hotmail.com.
Include the description of the problem and how
the problem arose.
I'll try and release the program again with the
problem fixed.

4. Getting Started
--------------------------------------------------
To start using CTTE, you need the english-
pached rom. If you have the englished-patched rom,
you're all set, just start CTTE and have fun. If
you don't, then follow these steps:

1. Find a copy of the Japanese ROM.
2. Get SNESTool.
3. Open SNESTool and select Use IPS.
4. Select the English IPS included with the
program.
5. Select the Japenese ROM.

This will translate the ROM to english, and
allow you to use CTTE.

5. A Small Tutorial for CTTE
--------------------------------------------------
Here's a small tutorial on using CTTE.

1. Start CTTE (duh)
2. From the menu, select File, then Open ROM.
3. Find your ROM inside the dialog box.
4. Go have some food in case you are hungry.
5. When it finishes loading the ROM, click on the
Find menu, and then click on Find.
6. Enter in the text "The other side's too far
away"
7. Click on the Find menu once again, except this
time, click on 'Find Next'
8. When the text has been selected, uncheck the
"Coloured" checkbox.
9. Highlight all the text in the smaller textbox.
10. Delete it and enter the text:
"Damn, I wanted to(return)look out the window."
11. Still in the space with white text, click
just after the comma.
12. From the menu, select insert, and then Pause.
-
I would like to make a note here that in order to
enter any number over 9, it will have to be
inserted in hex. Thus A = 10 B = 11 C = 12 D = 13
E = 14 F = 15. Numbers cannot be over 15.
-
Insert '2' into the dialog, for a short pause,
and press Ok.
13. Click on the apply button.
14. Under the File menu, click Save ROM.

You're done, and if you go into the rom, to the
place just after Jennifer runs back into the
room, walk up the stairs, turn left and walk
until the floor gives way, then attempt to walk
across, your new message will display.
