                GP32Vecx v0.2 (C) 2003 Andreas Gustafsson
[Introduction]-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is a port of a Vectrex console emulator for the Gamepark32.

[Installation notes]-----------------------------------------------------------

Place the GP32VECX.FXE file in the GP:\GPMM directory on your GP32 SMC.
The ROMS can be anywhere on the SMC, but the suggested location (the default
directory the emulator will look in) is GP:\GPMM\VECTREX.

[Using the emulator]-----------------------------------------------------------

When the emulator starts you browse and select the ROM you want to play with
the A button. Pressing B will exit the file-requester and start Mine Storm, the
game that is built into the Vectrex ROM.
Once in emulation mode the controls that are used are direction pad, button A,
button B, left shoulder and right Shoulder buttons. Press Start to go to the
ROM file browser. To reset the GP32 press Start+Select. You can invert the
color palette by pressing Select.
Note that since the emulator is rather slow, you will have to watch the Vectrex
intro screen for quite a long time before you get to play...
I don't know how good the compability is, but here is a list of games I've
got to run so far:

Armor Attack
Bedlam
Berzerk
Blitz
Clean Sweep
Dark Tower
Fortress of Narzod
Heads Up
Hyperchase
Mine Storm (built in game)
Patriots
Pole Position
Rip-Off
Scramble
Solar Quest
Space Wars
Spike
Spinball
Star Castle
Star Hawk
Star Trek
Vector Vaders
Web Wars

[Development notes]------------------------------------------------------------

This my first emulator release ever. I just searched the net for an emulator
that seemed easy to port, found Vecx and downloaded the source. First I did a
quick port to Windows GDI to see that the source compiled and worked as it
should, then I sat down and did the GP32 port. Total time for all this was
around two hours!
Unfortunatly I then discovered that the emulator only runs at approximatly 40%
of full speed. I sat down and tried optimizing a bit, but after doing some code
profiling on my Windows version it was clear that it was the emulation of the
analog parts of the Vectrex that were sucking up time, so no simple frameskip
solution can crank up the speed. :(

[News/Changes]-----------------------------------------------------------------

0.2 : 2003-07-10 - Added file browser (allowing you to play any Vectrex ROM)
and color palette switching. Minor speed-ups aswell.
0.1 : 2003-07-09 - First release, only plays Mine Storm.
