        ReVOLUX READTHIS Version 0.2
** You should really ready this stuff, man. **

            (3rd August, 2002)

1. InTRODUX

Since I bought for the first time my DDR CDs,
I could not stop dancing for days... and it
really made me realize that I s*ck, I REALLY
s*ck at dancing. Damn you, Konami.

But the game was incredibly fun and some of the
musics there were really nice to listen to, even
if they usually last for only 1:30 min.

I wanted to listen to them in my computer while
doing some stuff, or even record some CD-RWs and
listen to them in my car, but I could not find a
program to extract these musics anywhere on the
web.

 Well, actually I found one.
The THV + DDR3W combination, but the resulting
musics were so full of clicks and pops, becoming
very annoying to listen to.

So I decided to remove the dust from my old C#
books, get that long forgotten compiler installed
again and write a program to extract the musics
to WAVs... and here it is!

It's a poorly coded piece of sh*t, but the
final result really made me feel like one of the
best coders in the universe! Lame.

2. USAGE

The Dance Dance Revolution musics are stored in
a file called STR.BIN in the game CD-ROM, so all
you need to do is type this into your prompt:

 ReVOLUX D:\STR.BIN

Of course, supposing the STR.BIN file is located
on drive D:, you will get flawless WAV files.
Other OS users who dare to recompile the code
already know very well what to do.

This will extract all of the game musics, NOT
including voices or other crap stuff, into the
current directory. Be aware that the WAV files
may fill up to 1 Gigs of space on your disk.

This program should work for every version of
the Playstation Dance Dance Revolution out there.

3. THE BAT FILE

Togheter with the main program, comes a BAT
file that will rename all the extracted musics
into their true names. This BAT file is for the
5th Mix, and all you gotta do it to double click
it, or type it's name at the directory where the
musics are.

The names are in the format:
 MusicName -- ArtistName.wav

It would be really cool, and useful, if you
could write more BATs to rename the musics of
the other CDs avaiable. If you sometime do such
a thing, please mail it to me.

4. SOURCE CODE

In the SOURCE directory you will find the source
code of all this mess. There are three versions
there:

Version 0.1 - For those who probably have less
than 4 Megs of RAM instaled or who wish to learn
what NOT to do when coding in C#.

Version 0.2 - Quite faster, but now it eats a
lot more memory. It's still crap, but stick to
this version, ok?

Version 0.2 WinAPI - Microsoft way of coding.

Feel free to use the source as you like, but
just like you, I would be very appreciated if
you mentioned my name around with the programs
you code. Spreading thy name equals immortality,
man!

Also, please mention ReVOLUX name in the
comment field of the MP3s TAG you will be
sending to gamingforce.com or sharing over
iMesh, so people will know it's a good source.

If you accept suggestions, I think that a DDR
Jukebox would be a cool stuff to have around,
but I have not the pacience to do this by myself.

A PSound Plug-In would also be quite nice.

5. CONTACT

 Mail FadinhaX at: cantremember@zipmail.com.br

 Write anything you would like.
You may ask for technical information, flame me,
send a virus, send your mommy's photo, anything.

Something called feedback would be appreciated
also, in case you have nothing more to do.

6. THANKS, ALWAYS THE LAST PART

 Thanks to:
