General questions

Q: Where can I get the latest Spiffy Version of gpuNextGL?
A: Check out my web site at http://nextgl.ngemu.com/

Q: What games do not work with gpuNextGL?
A: As far as I can tell, all of the games that were not working with
NextGL as of now (v1.3) are fixed. I'll be adding more games here
as people send in their comments.

Q: Why am I not seeing textures?
A: That's not good :) NextGL v1.3 has improved texture caching abilities
so lost textures should be minimized now. But there could also be other
reasons, such as hardware. Your hardware should be able to generate
a 256x256 texture with 32-bit color for textures to work properly.
Any compliant OpenGL card (such as the GeForce 2) should be just fine! :)

Q: How do I make suggestions for gpuNextGL?
A: Any comments or suggestions about the plugin should be sent to my e-mail
   address (nextgl@ngemu.com).

Q: Why are none of my settings being saved?
A: This problem has been fixed. NextGL v1.7 and later should no longer have
configuration problems on computers running Win2K or WinXP.

Q: Does gpuNextGL support my XXXXX Card?
A: Hard to say at this point since I'm only able to test it with my
GeForce2 MX. If you encounter hardware problems, feel free to contact
me with your video card brand and model, and I'll see if I can do anything
   to help you!

Q: How come gpuNextGL is slow?
A: This might have to do with the texture caching. Although the plugin has
it's very very very fast moments, there are still some things that I need
to do to make it even faster. Until then, you can disable textures if you
   feel it's neccessary.

Q: How come gpuNextGL is to fast?
How do I set frame limiting with NextGL?
A: If you don't want to play games at a fast speed, then go into the
"frame limiting" configuration sub menu and check "Enable frame limiting."
The default value is 30 FPS for NSTC games. If you want the plugin to
automatically switch frame rate limits when you are playing PAL or NSTC
games then make sure the "automatic frame limitation" is also checked.

Q: Why cant I see any MDECs?
A: This still appears to be a problem that I'm trying to fix. Hopefully, I'll
be able to remove all of the bugs that are causing this soon.

Q: Why does the screen flicker with my NVIDIA graphics card?
A: If you set the "buffer flipping mode" to "block transfer" in the OpenGL
tab of the additional properties menu, then this should go away. Also,
if you set the "vertical sync" mode to "always off," then you should get
better performance in all OpenGL apps :)

Game specific questions
-----------------------

Q: How do I fix Battle Arena 3 Toshinden showing trailing?
A: That issue should have been resolved by now, but if it comes up again, I'd
   definitely like to know!

Q: When I'm playing my game sometimes there are pauses in the action. Why?
A: Depending on the game it may take NextGL's texture cacher a little while
to upload the texture into memory. It's not a simple copy operation in
most cases, depending on your configuration, it may need some time to
convert the texture before sending it to memory. If your video card
supports palettized textures USE THEM! They are really fast and don't
use up much memory, and the best part is, quality won't be affected by
using them! Also try using 16-bit textures if your hardware doesn't
support palettized textures, because 32-bit textures may be too slow on
   some systems.

Misc questions
--------------

Q: When's the next version going to be released?
A: I do not have a specific schedule that I'm running on, but I usually work
on my plugins when I have some free time.

Q: Can gpuNextGL do my homework while I play games?
A: Only if it were that simple...
