PlusIVe v0.02b
==============

PlusIVe is an emulator of the classic Commodore Plus/4 home computer.
The Plus/4 was introduced in 1984 and was meant to be the sucessor of
the C64. It featured a MOS 7501/8501 processor (software compatible with
the MOS 6502) with 1.7MHz or 860KHz (software selectable), 121 colors,
built-in software and some degree of compatibility with C64 hardware
like Joysticks and floppy disk drives.

In order to use PlusIVe on your GP32, copy the executable (.fxe) to
'gp:\gpmm\' and create a directory called 'gp:\gpmm\p4emu\' on your
smartmedia card. You can copy all your .PRG (Plus/4 executables) and
.D64 (floppy disk images) files into this directory. That should be
everything to do.

Starting a Game PRG (For the Impatient ;)
-----------------------------------------

- Start PlusIVe
- Press the Start button
- Select 'Autostart PRG' and press the A button
- Select the PRG in the file requester and press the A button

If this doesn't work, your game probably needs to be started manually
with an appropriate SYS command. If so, select 'Load PRG' instead of
'Autostart PRG' in the third step and enter something like this in the
emulation:

SYS8192

Whereby you need to replace the 8192 with whatever the start address of
your program is. Please note that you need to reset the emulation by
pressing L and R at the same time if you want to load another game.

When you've started a game, you must sometimes press return or space to
skip an intro or title picture and then try whether Joystick 1 or 2
works.

GP32 Joypad Mapping
-------------------

PlusIVe has 4 different joypad modes of which only one can be active at
any given time. The current joypad mode is marked at the lower left edge
of the screen:

- Keyboard
- Joystick 1
- Joystick 2
- Cursor

You can cycle through the joypad modes with the L button.
Here are the joypad mappings for every mode:

- Keyboard
Directional pad - Select a key in the virtual keyboard
A - Press the selected key
  B - Backspace (INS/DEL)
  R - Shift
  Select - Return/Enter

- Joystick 1,2
  Directional pad - Joystick direction
  A - Fire
  B - unused
  R - unused
  Select - unused

- Cursor
  Directional pad - Cursor keys
  A - unused
  B - unused
  R - unused
  Select - unused

Regardless which mode is active, you can press the Start button to enter
a menu where you can alter the screen brighness, attach D64 images and
load&run PRGs.
Also regardless of the mode, you can press the R and L buttons at the
same time to reset the emulation.

PlusIVe's Emulation Menu
------------------------

Here are all items in the menu:

- Attach D64 image
Just load a D64 floppy disk image. When an image is loaded, you can
use commands like 'DIRECTORY' or 'LOAD"BLA",8' in the emulation.

- Load PRG from D64 image
Tries to LOAD a Plus/4 program from a previously attached (see above)
  D64 image file.

- Autostart PRG from D64 image
The same as the 2nd menu item, except that this one tries to execute a
"RUN" command after loading the PRG. Note that this might not work for
all programs, because some need to be started with an appropriate SYS
  command.

- Load PRG
Loads a PRG file from the SMC.

- Autostart PRG
Same, but tries to execute a "RUN" command after loading the PRG. Note
that this might not work for all programs, because some need to be
started with an appropriate SYS command.

- Screen brightness
Press left and right on the directional pad to adjust the brightness.
This setting will take effect when you continue the emulation.

- Continue emulation
  Guess :)

In the file selector, the joypad mapping is as follows:

A - Load selected file
B - Cancel
D-Pad up - Go up one entry
D-Pad down - Go down one entry
D-Pad left - Go up one screen
D-Pad right - Go down one screen

That's all. Have fun with the emulator and let me know what you think about it !
