** C. DESCRIPTION **

** VeeBee ROM Graphix is a utility to load, convert and resave ROM **
** graphics data in either bitmap (BMP) or ROM (dat) form. **
** It can do the following formats: **
** 1bpp SNES, Linear **
** 2bpp SNES/GB, NES, Linear, VB Tile, VB Linear **
** 3bpp SNES **
** 4bpp SNES, Genesis, Linear, SuperFX Low, SuperFX High **
** 8bpp Mode7 Linear, Mode7 Interleaved, SNES, Linear **
** 16bpp N64 (High Color) **
** 32bpp N64 (True Color) **
** It can also handle files that use multiple data sources such as **
** SuperFX, N64 and Mode7 interleaved data. For best results, both **
** data sources should end up the same size after conversion. **
** Due to colour loss, it is also advisable to use a 24 bit or higher **
** resolution. **
** **
** There are multiple data extract and insertion apps out there, but **
** instead of searching for some, I decided to make more of them. =) **
** VeeBee Data Inserter (VINSERT.EXE) and VeeBee Data Extractor **
** (VEXTRACT.EXE) are command line based, but can be used without any **
** command line arguments. Just follow the method described below. **
** **
** NOTE: ROM Graphix was made using MS Visual Basic. This means that **
** it can run SLOW. I hope to convert it to C++ in the future, but **
** until then, if you're using a PII or lower, just sit back and **
** enjoy the break. =) **
********************************************************************************

********************************************************************************
** D. INSTALLATION & USAGE **
********************************************************************************
** Just extract the contents of this zip file (application files and **
** this readme file) into a directory and run it. Simple! =) **
** To use it, extract the graphics data segment using VEXTRACT, then **
** just load, copy, modify, convert, and resave it using ROM Graphix, **
** then just reinsert them back into the ROM using VINSERT. **
** **
** Using ROM Graphix is pretty easy, but here's a short description **
** anyway: **
** Load - load the graphics data as either ROM (dat) or bitmap (BMP) **
** (must be converted to bitmap first for display purposes). **
** Paste - paste the graphics from the clipboard as a bitmap. **
** Clear - clear all image data. **
** Convert - convert the loaded image data to the format specified. **
** Save - load the graphics data as either ROM (dat) or bitmap (BMP) **
** (must be converted in order to be saved as ROM data). **
** Copy - copy the bitmap to the clipboard. **
** Graphics Format - select the GFX format it is to be converted to. **
** Selection Box - select which portion of the image to be used. **
** Multiple data files - files that use multiple data sources, such **
** as SuperFX, Mode7 interleaved, and N64 files **
** need to have the main image data loaded **
** before the extra data and the extra data **
** should be the same size as the target data. **
** **
** The VeeBee Data Extractor (VEXTRACT) and the VeeBee Data Inserter **
** (VINSERT) are included to extract and reinsert the graphics data **
** after modification. They are command line based and use identical **
** interfaces. They can also be used without command line arguments. **
** The comand line arguments are listed below: **
** Usage: VINSERT/VETRACT [source] [destin] [offset] [length] **
** source: Location of source file (8.3 format) **
** destin: Location of destination file (8.3 format) **
** offset: Offset at which to insert/extract file/data (dec/hex) **
** (Hex numbers must be preceded by 0x or &H) **
** length: Length of source data to insert/extract (dec/hex) **
** (If omitted, all source data is inserted/extracted) **
** /? : Display this help information **
** example: VEXTRACT WATERWLD.VB WATERWLD.DAT 0x213AC 10764 **
** **
** NOTE: Because of the code I have used in ROM Graphix, images may **
** lose colour with screen resolutions below 24 bit. For best **
** results, use a True Color (24 bit) or higher resolution. **
