 Information

What I tried to do here was establish some sort of reserved space for all the
characters so that they would all be in the same place like the first font. But
that was more trouble than it was worth. The only characters that are reserved
are letters and numbers. All other ASCII characters can go wherever you want to
place them.

Every font gets 6 rows of space, no more, no less. If your game has more than
one font, use more than one section. The reason why the fonts are divided is for
aesthetics. Another reason is that it makes it easier for people to send
additions. If they were all tightly packed, it'd be a real pain in the ass to
make additions because I'd have to increase each tile by one.

The 8x16 fonts are the exception. 8x16 fonts will rarely contain all the letters
so it's not worth reserving the space. if you have additions for an existing
font I'll just add it to the end of the file. The same goes for the dings file.

The dings file takes even MORE time to edit because I painstaking search every
nook and cranny of the ROMs. I hope this is appreciated. In the dings file you
should see gradients, 8x8 textures, 16x16 textures, platforms, 1up fonts
[20,50,0,00,etc...], animations, numerous cursors, border styles, icons, arrows
and more. I think I enjoyed finding dings more than finding fonts. The dings are
stored in easy to view format. None of that jumbled crap in this file!

The files are in .NES format so that TLayer won't default to 1BPP.

The PlayStation fonts can be used for any translation project. Most of them
could be used in SNES translations and beyond. And let's not forget the small
but growing PSX translation scene. These fonts could be used with M.U.G.E.N. as
well. Use your imagination.

 Completion

Completing a font isn't easy, but it shouldn't be too hard either. The Star Fox
font [017300] isn't a real font, it's just a "PUSHTAR" image. It caught my eye
on the title screen (x1.gif). So I took a snapshot and cropped the image
(x2.gif). To my disappointment it wasn't a font, just an image. But I liked it
so much I decided to make a font out of it. I opened up TLayer and copied the
established letters into the font and worked from there.

Oh yeah, that second row of fonts in Star Fox are some numbers I found while
looking through a savestate. I was hoping to find that "PUSHTAR" font in memory
but I didn't.

 Thanx

Everyone who gave me feedback & help with the idea on Zophar's boards. I'd like
to also thank loser for coding the very awesome PSX Multi Rip. You can visit
his website at http://www.consoledev.com/loser-console/ and download this and
other great software.

 FAQs

Q. What's with all the fonts with letters missing? Why did you bother to add
   them to the archive?

A. Incomplete fonts can still be used. You might not need all the letters in the
alphabet to say something. I plan to complete some of those fonts anyway. But
I can't do it all on my own. I'd be grateful if you completed a font for me!
I give credit for font completions.

Q. What's with all the hyphens and the six rows of space? I think there should
be more/less spaces allotted per font.

A. It looks neater that way. Also, the space allotted per font is perfect. You
   don't need more.

Q. How do I get credit?

A. By either sending me your OWN original font or completing one of the
unfinished ones. For a font to be considered complete it must have both
capital and lowercase letters, all numbers and ten punctuations. And they all
have to match! You don't get credit by sending me ROMs or suggesting a ROM
for me to copy from. I appreciate it though! Ok, maybe those stipulations are
too high, but use your best judgment when sending me something. You needn't
have both capital and lowercase letters either :|

Q. Why did you include Japanese fonts?

A. You never know when they'll come in handy. I've only added a few Japanese
fonts to the archive. I don't plan to archive as many Japanese fonts as
   English ones.

Q. Blah?

A. Blah.
