--------------------------- INTRODUCTION ----------------------------

This program is a simulator of the arcade game Time Traveler.
It was written for use with SINGE, a software development kit for
the Daphne arcade laser disc emulator. It is compatible with Windows
operating systems capable of running Daphne.

This program comes in the form of a script which tells SINGE how
to play the game. Time Traveler for SINGE operates just like other
laser disc games Daphne supports. Video and audio files are needed
in order for Daphne to run the game. The game is cabinet friendly
(supports pause and quit with the escape key).

--------------------------- REQUIREMENTS ----------------------------

For Time Traveler for SINGE to work you need:

1. A DVD copy of Hologram Time Traveler from Digital Leisure.
2. A working copy of Daphne with SINGE installed.
3. A computer modern enough to run Daphne.

Since this is a laser disc game, you will need a copy of Time Traveler.
You need to purchase the DVD version from Digital Leisure. It can also
be found for cheap on Ebay.

Time Traveler for SINGE is meant for use with the DVD NTSC version.
The game does not run off the DVD. You will have to extract the
necessary video files for the game to work.

As of this writing Daphne does not come with SINGE installed. You
need to download the special Daphne version located at SINGE's
website:

http://www.jaegertech.net/software/singe

A computer fast enough to run Daphne comfortably is required for use with SINGE.

--------------------------- HOW TO USE ----------------------------

1. Download the Daphne version that comes with SINGE from that website:

	http://www.jaegertech.net/software/singe

2. Look for a file called Daphne-singe-win32-1.0.zip and download
it to your computer.

3. Install the contents of the archive into your computer's hard drive.
You will now have a directory called same as the zip file (Daphne-singe-win32-1.0).

4. On Time Traveler's archive there is file called timetraveler.bat.
This file launches the game. Install this single file in the main folder
(Daphne-singe-win32-1.0).

5. On the archive you will also find a file named saveme.wav.
Install this file in the sound folder.

6. Place the rest of the contents of Time Traveler's archive
inside the singe folder.

7. Copy your M2V and OGG files to the timetraveler folder.

Please read the included PDF document for more details.

-------------------------- RIPPING THE DVD --------------------------

Usually with Daphne you purchase a Dragon's Lair DVD and Daphne
will download a ripped version of the game for you to play.
This is not the case with Time Traveler. This game is not officially
supported so it means you will have to rip the video on your own.

It goes without saying you should purchase a DVD copy of
Hologram Time Traveler if you wish to play this game.

Please read the included PDF document for a tutorial on how to rip
the video from your DVD.

------------------------- Program Options ------------------------

When you press the service button (usually key "9" on the keyboard)
you will access Time Traveler for SINGE's service menu. The options
available are:

+ Coins Per Credit: Allows you to set the amount of coins required
for a game credit.

+ Max Cubes: Decides the maximum amount of Time Reversal cubes a
player can have at any time.

+ Cubes at Start: Sets the initial amount of reversal cubes a player
starts with.

+ Devil Takes Lives: Set to "YES" to allow the Hellgate mini game
to take lives from the player.

+ Show Devil: Set to "YES" to enable the Hellgate mini game.

+ Show Wizard: You can suppress the annoying wizard clips by
setting this option to "YES".

+ Sound FX: Lets you decide if you want to hear "right" and "wrong"
noises during game play. You can set it to play all sound effects,
only when a right move is executed, or play no sounds at all.

Use the joystick to navigate the setup menu. Use BUTTON1
to change settings. To exit the menu select the word "EXIT" and
press BUTTON1.

---------------------- How to Play the Game ------------------------

Use the joystick to input the correct moves at the right times. Some
scenes will have blue flashes hinting what move to make. Use BUTTON1
on your arcade controls to fire or attack.

Time Reversal Cubes rewind the video a few moments before your
last mistake, giving you a second chance. Use BUTTON2 to activate
time reversal cubes. You can buy more cubes at the "Trader" section
in the level select map.

Hints:

+ Some moves require you to turn before you shoot. Use sound queues
to fire immediately as the game register your turn.

+ You can disable the Wizard and the Devil appearances
in the service menu.

+ Just because you grab a sword does not mean you have to use it
right away.

+ Some scenes have alternate moves.

+ Try bribing an enemy into letting you pass.

------------------------- Known Issues -----------------------------

+ Program crashes immediately after launching

Make sure timetraveler.dat exists. The program won't run without it.

Check if the sound file "saveme.wav" exists in the "sound" folder
of your Daphne-singe-win32-1.0. Copy the one included in this
archive if you need to.

SINGE will also crash if the mouse is moving during initial start up.
Until a new version of SINGE comes out, the only solution
is to leave the mouse still during program launch.

+ Program crashes randomly throughout the game.

Apparently there is an issue when playing added sound effects
(for example, "wrong" or "right" sounds) that causes SINGE to crash.
The only workaround at this time is to disable the use
of sound effects. You can do so by changing the settings
of the "Sound FX" option in the service menu.

+ I can see the skull animation at the ending of a scene.

This is a side effect related to the video's frame rate.
Though care was taken to minimize the effect it is unavoidable.

+ Video runs in fast forward mode during the beginning of the game.

This is normal behavior of Daphne, specially during the first
couple or so runs of the game. Just let the intro play as Daphne
caches all the necessary video data. It will eventually stop
doing it.
