PlaySPC_GTK
-----------
Version 0.2.7.7 - March 5, 2005
Copyright(C) 2001-2005, JJ Foote w/ parts by Michael Thornbury

Overview:
---------
PlaySPC_GTK is an SPC music player for *nix (only tested on Linux, though).
It features a powerful playlist editor and a pretty GUI interface using GTK+.
It is the only Linux SPC player in existence (that I am aware of) with
a GUI interface, other than the XMMS plugin (which didn't work for me, YMMV).

The webpage for PlaySPC_GTK (and its obsolete older sibling, PlaySPC)
can be found at http://playspc.sourceforge.net/

Features:
---------
1. SPC playback via libopenspc (as of version 0.2.7)
2. Loading and saving of SPC playlist files and 7zip files
3. Basic playlist functionality: play, stop, pause, prev, next
4. Full support for ID666 tags, including song length handling
5. Internal Shoutcast server if you've really got the urge to stream mp3ed spcs
   to your friends.
6. Internal "Cheap Server" capable of sending the spc files themselves to listeners.
Note, the listener in playspc_gtk holds a maximal of one memory resident spc and
does not write any to disk. In fact, it should be usable without writing to the
filesystem at all or using X.

Requirements:
-------------
1. Standard development tools (make, gcc, etc.)
2. GTK+ 1.2
3. Standard gnu tools (sed, tr, egrep)
4. 7zip (playspc_gtk will behave oddly if you try to use 7zip-dependent functions
   without it)

Installation:
-------------
1. Extract the tarball with "tar xzf playspc_gtk-VERSION.tar.gz".
2. Edit the Makefile to suit your system.
3. Run "make"
4. Become root with "su"
5. Run "make install"

Documentation:

Most of this section has yet to be written.

You can only use 'File/Open' to load 7zip archives or PlaySPC_GTK playlist files, which
are simply text files containing the string "PLAYSPC_GTK PLAYLIST FILE" or "PLAYSPC_GTK
PLAYLIST FILE V2" and a list of filenames (with paths) to some SPC files.

You can only use the 'ADD' toolbar button to add individual SPC files to the playlist.

You can then save either a playlist file or a 7zip of your playlist. Saving a playlist
file containing spcs file from one or more 7zips makes the playlist dependent on those
7zips used to play correctly.

Altering the id666 tag of a file contained in an 7zip is only saved permanently when that
spc is saved again to a 7zip. Altering the id666 tag of a non-7zip contained file is saved
instantly.

"Save As Last" saves the current playlist to the filename given in the Filename text box
using the same playlist format (either a playlist file or a 7zip) as the last file used.
To override this behavior, select either "Save As Playlist" or "Save As 7zip" as
appropriate.

Lowerbound is the number of seconds a song should play if it either has no id666 tag or
you have selected to not use the id666 tag to specify play time. A lowerbound of 0 gives
an unlimited playtime of such songs.

Upperbound is like lowerbound, but applied to songs which have id666 tags. Having a
reasonable upperbound is often less work than configuring and then resaving a large number
of spc files.

Empty space is the number of seconds of no sound output from a song before switching to
the next song. A value of 0 causes playspc_gtk to never jump to the next song because of
no sound output from a song.
