Treasure Hunter G

0. IMPORTANT
------------
Those who have played this game before may know, but it is VERY
important that you do not use the emulator's save state capability
with Treasure Hunter G. While at times there may be no effect,
from my own experience, there may be some very nasty results,
including items appearing/disappearing from your inventory, graphic
mess-ups, etc. So for your own sake, just heed my advice.

-----------
1. Patching
-----------

This may go without saying for the emulation veterans, but a
clean, original ROM is absolutely necessary to use this patch. I
will not tell you where to find one, but I'll tell you that the
good ROM is in ONE file (not the 3 files version that's out there)
and that it is 3,146,240 bytes in size. Some emulators will tell
you wether or not your checksum is good; if it's not, keep searching.

To patch the ROM, use IPS, SNEStool, or any other program you want,
just don't ask me to help you with that, because your request will
just be ignored. Or, if you prefer, you can use the auto-patching
capability of some emulators. Simply put your ROM and the patch in
the same folder, and with the same name before the ".". For instance,
   "THG.smc" and "THG.ips" would work.

2. Known issues
---------------

a) PRE-BATTLE SCREEN

Probably the most obvious bug in THG right now is the pre-battle
screen and the fact that the text is not centered. I probably could
fix it if I had the time, but since it does not really affect the
playability, I figured it could be ignored for the time being.

b) THE STORY

There may be some inconsistencies in the course of the story for
the simple fact that no official re-writing of the script has been
done. One was planned prior to any release, but for some reasons
out of my control, it isn't possible at this point in time. But do
not worry: the story still is mostly coherent.

c) UNTRANSLATED TIDBITS

There is still some random japanese left in the game, namely in one
of the games at the frog casinos and on the main menu screen. For
those who are wondering, the untranslated line in the menu simply
means "Press Y to sort your equipment". The symbols at the casino
will be obvious once you get there.

d) RANDOM BUGS

A few times during the course of the game, there seems to be a
"text-overwrite" bug that occurs (you'll recognize it if it happens
to you) for some yet unknown reasons. I have only encountered it
immediately following boss fights, so there's no need for worries
here either. The cause seems may be related to a bad use of memory
space in the variable width font, but that's strictly speculative.

3. Contributors
---------------

Here are the main folks who have helped to bring you this game, in
no particular order. I am sorry if I forgot anyone, but your help
   has been very appreciated nonetheless.

   - Graywords (Scrolling Intro and Conclusion)
   - DaBubba (Some random stuff)

c) ASM WORK

             and decompressor for the data)

4. The Future
-------------

Not long ago, a new font was being developped and tested, but the
occasion to bring it in never occured. This should be the next step
if any more work is done on this game.

There were also plans, as I mentionned earlier, to re-write the
script because it was translated by many different people and the
styles of writing are different at times. Those plans have not been
scrapped, and should more work be done on THG, this is a strong
   possibility.

Third, we had plans to release a translated version of the game's
instructions booklet. But a lack of translators is putting this
   on indefinite hold.

5. Contact
----------

Don't contact me if there's a typo in the text or if you have any
script suggestion. However, if you discover a piece of untranslated
text or a major bug not mentionned above, or if you just have a
CONSTRUCTIVE comment, you can contact me at: metalhawk@usa.net.

ENJOY!
